BENEFITS OF ELECTROMAGNETIC THERAPY FOR TREATMENT OF HORSES

Currently, at the Scientific and Production Center for Horse Breeding of the State Association “Turkmen atlary" methods of physiotherapy for horses are scientifically studied, including electromagnetic therapy, based on the effect of electromagnetic energy on the body of horses.  For these scientific works a special horse blanket “Biomag Lumina Vet” (made in the Czech Republic) is used.

Such an adapted “device” is quite convenient to use. All horses are familiar with the horse blanket, which allows to avoid the effect of a “new object”, it does not make sharp sounds that frighten horses and does not cause physical pain. As for the physical basis of the magnetic field's effect on the body, it lies in the transformation of the field's electromagnetic energy into the mechanical energy of charged particles. By influencing the charged particles moving in the body, the magnetic field affects the physicochemical and biochemical processes of the horse’s body, and the heat generated within tissues alters the course of redox and enzymatic processes.

Under the influence of magnetic fields, large molecules develop a charge and their magnetic susceptibility also changes. This leads to magnetic fields causing orientational and concentration changes in biologically active macromolecules within the horse's body, which affects the rate of biophysical processes.

In addition, under the influence of magnetic fields, there is an increase in ion activity in tissues, which is a prerequisite for the stimulation of cellular metabolism. Central and peripheral neuroendocrine mechanisms of whole organism regulation, restructuring of immunological reactivity, and improvement of tissue microcirculation processes play a role in the mechanism of the therapeutic effect of a magnetic field.

Magnetotherapy has primarily anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous, coaguloregulatory, and also stimulating regenerative effects on the horse's body. Electromagnetic therapy is indicated for horses with dystrophic joint diseases, inflammation and atrophy of muscle tissue, polyneuritis and many other diseases.

Physiotherapy is a truly powerful tool that, in the right hands, can radically change the course of recovery and rehabilitation, which significantly improves the horse's performance. It is very important to understand that this type of physiotherapy is a rather gentle therapeutic treatment for horses and should only be used after consultation with a veterinary specialist.
